NuHer is a doctor-led menopause clinic at Nariman Point in South Mumbai. We look after women through perimenopause, menopause and the years after, with gynaecologists and menopause specialists who listen first and explain your options clearly. If you have been told "it's just your age" and sent home, this is a place to be heard properly.

You can see us in person at our clinic at Tulsiani Chambers, Free Press Journal Marg, or by video from anywhere in India.

Who we see

Most women who come to us are between their late 30s and their 60s. Some know they are in menopause. Many simply feel that something has changed and want to understand why. We see women who:

  • Have irregular, heavier or lighter periods and are wondering if this is perimenopause
  • Are troubled by hot flushes, night sweats or poor sleep
  • Feel anxious, low, irritable or foggy, and not like themselves
  • Have vaginal dryness, discomfort during sex, or urinary symptoms
  • Are noticing weight gain around the tummy, joint aches or low energy
  • Want to know whether hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or body-identical hormones are right for them
  • Have had an early menopause, surgery or cancer treatment, and need specialist advice
  • Have finished their periods and want to look after their heart, bones and long-term health

Not sure where you fit? Our A–Z guide to menopause symptoms may help, and the free menopause test takes only a few minutes.

What your first visit covers

Your first consultation is unhurried. Every woman's situation is different, but in general your doctor will:

  1. Listen to your story – your symptoms, how long they have been going on and how they affect your sleep, work, relationships and mood.
  2. Go through your health history – your periods, pregnancies, past illnesses or operations, family history (for example of breast cancer, heart disease or blood clots) and any medicines or supplements you already take.
  3. Examine you if needed – depending on your symptoms, this may include checking your blood pressure, weight, breasts or a pelvic examination. Nothing is done without your agreement.
  4. Explain whether tests are useful – for women aged 45 and over with typical symptoms, perimenopause and menopause can usually be recognised from symptoms alone. Your doctor will tell you if any blood tests or scans make sense for you, for example to rule out a thyroid problem or anaemia.
  5. Talk through your options – hormonal and non-hormonal treatments, supplements, nutrition, movement, sleep and emotional support, with the benefits and risks explained in plain language.
  6. Agree a plan with you – including when to review how you are getting on.

Bring a list of your medicines, any recent reports, and notes about your periods if you have them. You are welcome to bring your husband, a family member or a friend.

Questions women ask

Do I need a referral to see a menopause doctor at NuHer?

No. You can book directly by phone, WhatsApp, email or through our booking page.

Should I see a gynaecologist or a menopause specialist?

At NuHer you do not have to choose. Our gynaecologists have a special interest in menopause, and they can bring in our physician, dermatologist, neuropsychiatrist, dietitian or counsellors when your symptoms need it.

Will I be put on hormones straight away?

No. Hormone therapy is one option among several. Your doctor will explain whether it suits you, the benefits and risks for you personally, and the non-hormonal choices. The decision is always yours.

Do I need blood tests before my first visit?

Usually not. If you are 45 or over with typical symptoms, tests are often not needed to recognise perimenopause or menopause. Bring any recent reports you already have, and your doctor will advise if anything else is useful. Read more in our guide to the perimenopause test.

Can I bring my husband or a family member?

Yes. Many women find it helpful to have someone with them, and it can help your family understand what you are going through.

What if I can't come to Nariman Point?

You can see the same team by video consultation from anywhere in India, Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm.
