How the symptom tracker works

The tracker uses the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS), a questionnaire developed in Germany in the 1990s and validated in women across Europe, the Americas and Asia. It asks about 11 symptoms in three groups: body symptoms (hot flashes, heart discomfort, sleep, joint and muscle aches), mind symptoms (low mood, irritability, anxiety, exhaustion) and intimate and bladder symptoms (sexual problems, bladder problems, vaginal dryness). Each is scored from 0 (none) to 4 (very severe), giving a total out of 44.

What your score means

  • 0 to 4: little or no symptoms
  • 5 to 8: mild symptoms
  • 9 to 15: moderate symptoms
  • 16 or more: severe symptoms

One score is a snapshot. Tracking weekly shows whether symptoms are building, settling, or responding to changes you or your doctor make. Researchers use the same scale to measure how much treatment helps.

Questions women ask

Can this tracker tell me if I'm in menopause?

No. It measures how much symptoms are affecting you, not which stage you are in. For that, take our free menopause test or read the perimenopause guide.

Where is my data stored?

Only in your browser, on your device. NuHer cannot see your answers unless you choose to send them to us on WhatsApp. If you clear your browser data or switch phones, your history is lost.

What should I do with a high score?

A moderate or severe score is a good reason to see a doctor. Hormonal and non-hormonal treatments can make a real difference. NuHer's doctors see women at our Nariman Point clinic in Mumbai and by video across India. Book a consultation.
